Duration Farm was founded by Paul and Sharon Anderson in 1986 when the first Douglas Fir trees were planted.

For years, the Andersons provided families with beautiful trees for their holidays.

Paul's untimely death in 2004 was a terrible loss as he was the enthusiastic and driving force of the venture. He had a passion for growing things and loved meeting his customers and their families yearly.

Duration Farm is presently owned and operated by Sharon Anderson who carries on to honor her late husband, his vision, and his hard work.

A Tribute to Paul Anderson

1947-2004

Put your head down, and keep moving.

Paul Anderson believed in constantly improving and bettering himself. He was intensely curious about the world around him and eager to learn and assimilate knowledge and new techniques. If they were about mechanics or physical things- all the better.

He was graduated from Boys’ Trade High School in Worcester, MA with an automotive concentration, and he immediately went to work as a technician. He didn’t stop there, however.

Paul went from mechanic to service writer to assistant service manager to service manager at many car dealerships in the Worcester area. He was proud that his career moves were always up- never the same nor back. Wherever Paul Anderson went he made friends and impressed customers with his sociable, outgoing disposition.

At the same time, he managed to serve in the U.S. Navy and pursue his hobby of taking apart as many Ford motors from as many Ford vehicles as time possibly allowed!

     Still that wasn’t enough.

Paul felt a call to teach. He wished to share his knowledge of machinery and cars with a younger generation. Perhaps this feeling was inspired by all that his beloved dad had imparted to him.

From 1976 to 1983, Paul Anderson pursued a bachelor’s degree in education from Fitchburg State College while teaching automotive at Joseph P. Keefe Technical High School in Framingham. He did this on weekday nights, on Saturdays, and during the summer. Paul was thirty-five years old when he received his degree. He never wanted to stop learning.

Next he taught at Mass Bay Community College as an instructor in the Toyota T-Ten program. He admired the quality and craftsmanship of Toyotas. The Toyota creed seemed to echo his own: do the best you can at all times.

Paul ended his teaching career back at Keefe Tech in the horticultural department since another of his passions was growing things. This was reflected in the establishment of his Christmas tree plantation, Duration Farm, and his company, Paul Anderson Construction and Landscaping.

Paul Anderson never allowed a problem to beat him. He puzzled and pondered over many an obstacle until he conquered it- all but the illness that caused his untimely death.

A life well-lived is a precious gift of hope and strength and grace

From someone who has made our world a brighter, better place.
